STOLEN BICYCLE
SOLD AT AUCTION. The bicycle-room of the Christchurch police station, where arc 'stored all stray machines which constables bring in from the streets—and many of them are never claimed—is pot nearly as into resting now as it was a day or so ago. Close on half a hundred bicycles and sets of “bicycle remains,” as left by the adaptive thief, have just been sold at auction. For twelve months an unclaimed bicycle lies at peace with the police. Then it passes under the hammer and out into the cruel world again. Last week’s sate was well attended, and competition was keen. Considering the condition of the-offer-ings, good values were secured. Top prices was £4 12s Od. and the poorest “scrap” brought los.
