PERSONAL.
The death occurred at Auckland recently of Mrs. Healey, mother of Mr He.aley, ©hemiat, of Fqxtofi.
,Mr and Mrs Harry Signal (Foxton), vrli© have been on a visit to. Wellington, are at present in To Hoi'o. Private Eric McLeavey, son of Mr and Mrs James McLeavey, of Levin, is returning by the Willochra, due in the Dominion on the 15th inst.
Mr W. Little, at one time on the staff of the Otaki railway, is at present on duty at the Wellington (Thorndon) Station.
Miss Hodge, of Otaki, who has been playing for the Brougham Street Tennis Club this season, has now joined tho Karori Golf Club.
Miss Winter (Dunedin), who has been spending a holiday at Waikanae, will shortly take up temporary residenco in Wellington.
•Mr George Seifert, of flaxiuilling fame, has disposed of his interest in tho Tokomam Flaxmilling Co., and will confine his activities to farming in the Waikato.
A telegram from Motueka states that Mr Percy B. Lomax, of Motueka, has definitely announced his candidature for tho Motueka seat, standing in the interests of the Democratic Party.
At the Otaki Circuit Methodist quarterly meeting of officials, held at To Hore on Monday night, feeling reference was rnado to the great loss the church had sustained through the death of tho lato Messrs Jas. Best and J. Prouse and Mrs W. J. Row, and votes of sympathy with the bereaved families were passed in silence. Lieut. C. F. At more (Military Cross), who for some years was associated with the legal firm of Bark and Wilson, Wellington, prior to a lengthy and honourable career as a soldier, has taken up tho position of managing clerk for Messrs Kirk and Raploy, Otaki. Wc welcome Mr Atmoro to our midst. He should be an acquisition as a citizen and as a good all round sport. Word has been received that Mr David Jones, of New Hebrides, died in the Islands some weeks ago. Ho enjoyed fairly good health, but took, ill and entered tho hospital, and succumbed in a few days. The late Mr D. Jones was for some time a well-known resident of Otaki, whore he was in business as a photographer and cycle agent. He was brother to Mr Clinton Jones, of this town, and deceased’s son (Private Jones) is now on sick leave in Otaki. Mr Jones leaves a widow and grown-up family, with whom much aym* pathy- is felt.
