HOME ONCE MORE,
MAORI BOYS ARRIVE AT QTAKI. A GREAT RECEPTION. The local members of the Pioneer Battalion, who arrived at Auckland on Saturday lasl, reached OtaTH by this morning's train, and. were accorded a royal welcome. The soldiers, some twenty in number, were met at the railway station by a groat crowd of Natives and Europeans, but, as the reception was entirely in the hands of the Natives, no demonstration whatever was made at the station, that function being reserved for the township. When the gallant lads reached the township they were met, bv a great concourse of Natives, who gave the soldiers a splendid reception iii t rue Maori fashion, the men being escorted into (lie Raukawn enclosure amidst tremendous shouting and wailing.
The meotiiig-ltouse and enclosure had been very handsomely decorated, there being a-fine display of bunting, while the entrance to the enclosure bore the inscription "Welcome Home," Surmounted with flags. This aftcruoon the soldiers arc being entertained at a banquet, for which elaborate preparations have been made by the Natives. To-night a social is being hold in the -Town Hall, to which the public are cordially invited to a.tteud. It is hoped and expected that there will be a very large and enthusiastic gathering, in order that our gallant Maori lads may be fittingly welcomed home.
