SOUTHERN GRAIN MARKET. Christchurch, April 1. The grain market continues lifeless, and prices, which are mainly nominal,., remain practically the same as last—week. At present the position with regard to wheat is very acute, as millers have bought as ranch Tuscan a*, they require for the time being. Tut* only chance of getting any sale through ■s by offering a mixed parcel containing Hunters and Pearl. Fowl wheat is worth 5s 2d to Os on the basis of f.o.b. Lyttelton, but even at this price these are cor a great many buyers. The cocksfoot market is very quiet. The nominal value is about oj d to 7d per lb, but there- are no sellers at this price. Potatoes are a little keener, jumpbag trp to 25 10s and in .some cases to £5 las and 2d at country station*. White clover is quoted at led per lb, but there are very few buyers at eves this price.
