Mr Pfirsonson, of tho Wairarapa, has taken over tho management of Mr Howard Andrew’s Ohau branch store.
Privato G. Graham, son of Mr R. Graham (Ohau) is reported to have died of sickness on 25th March, whilst on route to New Zealand.
Mr W. Procter, who arrived in Foxton in 1575 (and who celebrated his golden wedding in 1910), passed away on Thursday in his 80th year.
Mrs Findlay, wife of Mr D. M. Findlay, barrister, and tho organiser for tho Moderate League, died in Wellington on Sunday. The deceased lady lias been seriously ill for some time.
Dr. H. A. Davies, who went to England in the early part of the war, and has been engaged in war work in thc\ hospitals there over since, is expected to return to Levin about April 17. He will bo accompanied by Mrs Davies;
Private Ilebden Bennett recently returned to his home at Otaki, after spending several months at Rotorua. We are very pleased to hear that he has received groat benefit from tho treatment at Rotorua, aud now walks with a scarcely perceptible limp.
Mr Wilde, of Muhunon East, had tho misfortune to bo thrown from his horso last evening, and was so severely injured that he was driven to his homo by Messrs Walkley Bros., of Levin, who happened to be passing when the accident occurred.
The death occurred at Levin on Saturday last of Mr Wm. Whifchousc, one of the oldest settlors on the coast. Deceased came to Now Zealand as a baby in 1841. He had lived for a quarter of a century ut Levin. Ho leaves a family of three—Mrs Hislop (Levin), Mrs Thurston (Million), and Private H. D. Whitehouso, who recently returned from the front.
At a meeting of the Otaki Public Library Committee, held yesterday afternoon, the acting-chairman (Mr W. B. Smith), in referring to the death of tho laic Mr R. Booth, paid a graceful tribute t« that gentleman, who had been for a great many years an native member of tho committee. On Mr Smith's motion it was resolved to writo to the relatives of the late Mr Booth, expressing sympathy with them in their bereavement, and to place on record in the library’s minute book an appreciation of the valuable services rendered by the deceased over a very lengthy period.
