TENNIS CLUB.

A general meeting of members of the Manakau Tennis Club was held on Monday night last, to consular suggested improvements to the courts and appointments. After discussion it was resolved to accept the tender of Mr Kiifocd (£id) for asphalting both courts, removing the pavilion to the back fence, and effecting other improvements, the acceptance of tender to be subject to the club being able to secure a lease of the grounds i'oi'-21 years. •of the suggested improvements, etc. The work will be carried out during the winter, and when completed the courts should be in splendid order and it credit to the district.

Some seven or eight friends kindly agreed to act as guarantors to the club, to enable the work to be put in hand* There is a credit balance of some .£l3 in' hand.

It was decided to hold a plain and fancy dress dance in aid of the funds, and a strong committee was sec up to carry the project through.

Mrs Jas. Atkins bus very kindly presented the Methodist Church with a Christening font. This is a very handsome piece of furniture. It was-made by Mr ICofoed, and is in keeping with the furnishing of the church. The local tennis players are trying conclusions with the Shannon Club members' on the Manakau courts, ibis afternoon.
