MANAKAU.

Mrs Mickle, the energetic secretary of the local tennis club, was accorded a pleasant surprise on Saturday, when members of the club congregated to make her a well-deserved presentation. Mr Andrew, on behalf of the playing members, spoke highly of Mrs Mickle, and handed to her a valuable piece of Doulton ware, a gift that was greatly nppereiated. Corporal J. Horn (M.M.).and Privates Keats and Harris (the latter a visitor) have arrived here. They were jiceordcd a hearty welcome by a number of friends. Mr Kofoed is at present busy preparing for Ihe erection of a blacksmith’s shop, garage, etc., on Mr W. Bcvan’s section. Mr Kofoed has also in hand the building of a bungalow for Mr Cameron, and work for Mr Dalzcll and Mr Andrew.
