RATING UNIMPROVED VA
POLL CARRIED BY LARGE ( MAJORITY. Very little interest was evinced in the poll taken at Otaki yesterday, on the question of rating on unimproved value, only 177 ratepayers exercising tjieir privilege of voting. Up to 2 p.m. only fifty had voted, and the busiest part of the day was late in the afternoon. The returning officer (Mr M. IT. Ayre), who was assisted during the day by Mr J. Ingram, announced the result a quarter of an hour after ike poll had closed. There was only one person present at the time, and by 6.30 only about a dozen had assembled. These, however, expressed gratification at the result of the poll, which they considered a step towards progress. The following is the result of the voting:— For ,\ 132 Against 14 Informal 1
