METHODIST CONFERENCE.

The Methodist Conference opened at Christchurek last night. The Mayor of Christckureh extended a hearty welcome to the delegates to the conference on behalf of the city. Tho new president, the Rev. H. E. Bcllhouse, was inducted, and he then delivered his address. The ltcv. G. H. Blackwcll, of Kaiapoi, was elected vice-president for 1919. The Rev. E. Drake, of Wellington, was elected president for 3920. The ballot for secretary for 1920 will not be completed until to-morrow morning. The three candidates remaining in the ballot are tho Revs. A. Ashcroft. A. W. Scottcr and T. W. Vcalic.
