Captain I’irimi Tiihiwi, of Otaki, who has been on active service with the Pioneer Battalion ever since it. left New Zealand, is expected fo return about the.middle of April. Mr Robert Bevan, the well-known stud shcepbrf-eder, of Manak&ti, was among the visitors to the Master!on , .Show. Gunner, “Day” Anderson, late of Otaki and Paroparnumu, who has Keen I much arduous service at the front, is i expected home in the course of a fortj fight, , Private Jack Quill, of Otaki, is expected to arrive home by the end of •the month by the Zeahandic. .' j At the last meeting of the Levin Patriotic Society feeling reference was made to the deaths of 31r- F. O. Smith and 'Mr James Prosse, and votes of condolence were passed to their rela- ' fives. sister Tna Bennett, sister to Mr If. Bennett, of Otaki, is expected to arrive in Wellington to-day. This young lady went to Egypt with the first contingent of New Zealand nurses, and has had a very lengthy service with the New Zealanders in 'Egypt, England and elsewhere.
Mr Takorei Kohlka, who has been on the staff of the legal firm of Messrs Kirk and Raplcy f ore some years, is about to leave Otaki to take tip a position in the NativeaLand.-iDipartnient. Takere-t will be much ruissed/in tennis, cricket and football circles, he being a first-rate athlete.

Rand-, chaplain with the Expeditionary Forces. .which’ occurred in England,'' death being due to influenza. .The late Mr Hands was one-of the most promising ■ of the young v>ltilnlem of the Methodbr Church:- and. wriiT'a . favourite with everyone. He entered the ministry in jbOS, and was stationed at Mart on prior" to joining the Expeditionary Force. For a -hon period Rev. Rar.d= was stationed at Otaki, where he was most successful,'and won the highest" esteem of ail. He was a man of many parts, an excellent preacher, ar.-d appealed particularly to young people, ‘‘*o athletg of no uiebn order.

The many friends of Mr It. Booth, of Otaki, will regret to learn that lie is in very indifferent health. Private Tom McColl. at one time in "business as a saddler in Otaki, but now ! of Wellington, recently returned home, | -He paid a flying business visit to Otaki this week. I -Mr K. Walker, who has lived all his life in Fdxton. during which time ho has taken a keen interest in church and bowling matters, has accepted a lucrative position at Wanganui.
Private R, P. Anderson, who has been in hospital since his. return from tho front, is now at his home in Otaki. Private Anderson was severely gassed ami wounded, but it is satisfactory to know that he is making good progress. Mr H. Poole, nurseryman, of. Lower Hurt, consented to act as judge of the pot plants and cut blooms section at the forthcoming flower show at Otaki on 12th prox., Mr O. B.
