A RIKIORANGI MATTER.

(To the Editor.) Sir. —In reading your report of the llorouhemm County Council meeting I notice the chairman (Air Monk-), in reply to my letter re an encroaching fence, is reported to have said the case was an unfortunate one for me. as I had leased a block of land at a rental of Ills per acre, and now wanted the Council to deviate and make a road to cost £4OIJ. T can hardly believe that Mr .Monk would make such a false statement, as he knows I purchased the block of land (1)00 acres of freehold) from Mr AV. J. Howell, and paid for it some six years ago. and have been at the Council to help me with the road, but they would not, so t refused to pay the rates, and they (the Council) summoned me. After a long, dreary : wait 1 started to form the road myself. 1. have had to pack everyth i"g up to the present. .1 never asked Mr Monk to deviate one im-li. The road was laid out years before I bought the property. The engineer (Mr Malcolm) can bear me out. All I want is the obstructions on the road removed and fair play, which I don’t think I am getting from Mr Monk. In conclusion, Air Editor, I see the matter was left to the councillors of the riding. Are they Air Monk and Ai r Jones, as the latter called on me on Friday and told me Mr Alonk told him to erect'a gate across the road? I told Air Jones I would pitch the gate down the gully. Thanking you for your valuable space. —I am. etc., JOHN RASMUSSEN. Rikiornngi, Eeh. -15, .101 P.
