Private E. P. Meek, of Waikanae, h reported to bo seriously ill, while Nurst Douglas, of Otaki, is reported to b« improving. Mr and Mrs M. Maclean, of Para paraumu. leave next month for Eng land and Scotland, where they wii spend six months ’ holiday. Mr s. A. Broadbelt. Ihakara, habeeii appointed chairman of director.of the Levin Co-op. Dairy Co., Lid., in place of the late Mr James Prouse. Mis Wilford, mother of the Minister i of Justice, and a daughter of the late Mr Thomas -Mason, of Lower Hutt, is nr present lying seriously ill at Wan - r Mrs Gibbons has consented to stand I for a seat on the Wellington City Council. Up to the present time no lefty has yet been elected to that body, l.ut on the Auckland City Council there arc- two who occupy seats. Mr and Mrs C. H. Williams, accompanied by their son, Mr C. S. Williams, left to-day for the North, and will probably make an extensive trip of Rotorua and district for the benefit of Mrs Williams' health. It is hoped the change will prove beneficial to all.

H. ’Field, member for Otaki, went through to Palmerston North last ! night, and to-day proceeds to New Plyj mouth, where he will join Mrs and ; Mbs Field, who have been holiday - | making in the Taranaki district. Mr and Mrs Haneox celebrated their golden wedding at Piristka (King Country) s few. days ago, when there j was a large gathering of relatives and ’ friends. Among the numerous presents received was a parse of sovereigns, the gift of the residents of the district. The relatives present included Mrs Morgan (daughter), Otaki; Mrs Davey (daughier), Kairacga; and Mrs Maugham Xifefer), Utifu.
Mrs-Eirlilcy, who is shortly leaving Foxtbii, tvtis entertained by several of her friends on Monday and presented with a handbag and a greenstone tiki. Afternoon tea was dispensed, . and a convivial time spent by all present.
Word has been received by Mr W. Bevan, of Otaki, as next-of-kin, being an uncle, that Private Henry Raymond Bevan, who left with the 4tli Reinforcements, may be expected to arrive by the Zealandie, which is due to reach Wellington on or about tbo 2Stli inst.
The death occurred at the Otaki Hospital on Monday night of Mr Dan Larsen, who has been a resident of Paraparaumu for about nine years, previous to which he lived in Otaki, where he was well known and generally respected. He leaves a wife (second daughter of Mr -J. 11. Baucke, of Paraparaumu) and two young children, one of whom is only seven weeks old. Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved. Deceased had one brother, Sergeant Larsen. who was killed in action, while Iris' parents, Mr and Mrs Andrew- Larsen, are respected residents of Rangatauu.
