A bully ’sergeant stepped forward with a pompous air and began to call jhc roll. ‘••Tones,"' —"Here!" < * McKay.Hero! ” " Saunders 1 ’ ’ —"Here!" "Montaigl”—No answer. Then, in a louder voice. “Hontaig?” Still no response. The name was repeated vehemutly a third time. Then a nervous voice spoke from the ranks, "Please, isr. perhaps you mean me; my name’s Montague.” "Oh! Montygew, is. it ! Well then, Mr Bloomin’ Montygew, you take two paces to the rear and do two days’ fati-gue!”
