N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.
TE HORO BRANCH. , (Contributed.) A fair number of farmers attended the first meeting of the Te Horo branch of the Farmers’ Union on Monday night. The proceedings were full of interest, and the tone of the meeting was candid and cordial. After the ordinary and general business of the branch was disposed of, n lengthy report of the farmers’ meeting at Palmerston North on Saturday was read, and ably commented upon. Strong dissent was expressed with tho suggestion to drop the name of “Union.” and the spirit of some remarks made at Palmerston North were equally strongly disapproved. An entertaining address was given by the president. It is perhaps safe to prophesy that Te lloro will be heard from to some effect later, and members of the branch arc to be congratulated on the promise of a virile and useful future. Several new members were enrolled, Mr Patten being appointed secretary and treasurer. Jhe meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the members who l.ad journeyed to Palmerston North, and given an unusually full report, providing a useful and pleasant evening. A motion in reference, to the conduct of local slock tales is held over for next meeting.
