;•" "THE CRYSTAL GAZER." The above beautiful Paramount star film will be shown at Otaki to-morrow night. This is an absorbing exposure of fake mediums, with the star actress, Panuic Ward, in three roles—a mother and her two daughters. The story is a clever one, making a most attractive picture, while the acting is excellent.
•-'MY FOUR YEARS IN GERMANY." AX OTAKI ON SATURDAY NEXT, j Very considerable interest is centred . in the above great picture, t» be j screened at Otaki on Saturday night next, and a bumper house is assured, j The picture is an exact screen reproduction of the facts as set forth- in , American Ambassador James Gerard's great book of the same name, and it is ■. even greater than its original, since no book could ever convey so vividly to the human mind the happenings which .this mighty photo-drama portrays. It is a living document of absolute ; authenticity and at no point, either in ] scene or word, does it depart from the t actual facts. Mr Gerard, in speaking of it, says: "It has been my desire to ] sou this'picture'produced for the same : reason that I wrote the book, because I want to bring home to people the gravity of the situation, and for that reason [ have watched it earefully during its production, so that it will present a clear picture to the mind of everyone who sees what the world has Jo face in German autocracy. The historic importance of the picture can hardly, be over-estimated, since it reveals the German menace in all its sinister force. A feature of the production is the revelation of the personal idiosyncrasies of those in power in Germany, such as the saddled trestle of the Kaiser and the dancing dolls of Bethmann-Hollweg, and such details go far to explain the psychology of the German mind. The picture tells the inside story of the sinking of the Lusitunia. the Zabern affair, the typhus
camps at Wittenburg. the U-boat cam- I paign, the slave raids, the Kaiser's in- j Jrigues, the Socialist riots in the Reich- • stag, and every other important occur- "• reuce in Berlin leading up to and after S the declaration of ivar. » JTlie film consists of ten reels, and is therefore a long one, but so dramatic are the facts set forth that it is incomparably more absorbing than any sensational work of fiction ever could be. PARAMOUNT STARS. A list of Paramount Star films to be shown at Otaki weekly appears in our advertising columns, and should prove of interest to picture patrons."
