Aishcr, charitable and officer, rej ported that in compliance with a teleI jram from the Public Health Dcpart-L.nent-to* investigate and relieve all liccessitous cases of orphans and widows, he had made the neeessary inI [uiries. So. far 28 widows and S Liidowcrs had applied, and 21 cases had ! .men dealt with by the Board.- He rc- ! gretted to report that in only four eases wore the lives of the deceased insured, and that in no more than five cases had the husbands of the widows been members of friendly societies. He drew attention to the fact that applications from widows for pensions should bemade to the secretary in writing, with ■ particulars as to the name and age of the deceased, when he died, and the date of the birth of each child.
