BOWLING.
OTAKI V. LYALL BAY. DAY SPOILED BY RAIN. Ten players from the Lyall Bay Club journeyed to Dtaki on Saturday ; and indulged in most enjoyable games. Unfortunately, rain ■ fell in the morning, and, in consequence, the green (was heavy. Luckily, at a later hour, tho sun shone brightly, but afterwards became obscured, 'and the rain that followed caused play to cease. The ladies were present in good force, and provided an afternoon tea that was .fully appreciated. The' results of the games are ns follows, Lyall Bay players being mentioned iirst in each case: —
Moran, Canning, Tyrcll, Morrah (s) v. Knight, Skolley, Smith, Olliver (s), 9-12. As, in other eases' only sixteen heads were played. The visitor's, who started with a lead, wero overtaken on tho lltli head, after which scoring was fairly even to tho end of the game. Flotclicr, Mack, A. Ward,* Martin (s) v. Gooding, Avrc, Kilmister, Noble (s), 20-S. Lyall Bay started well, improved their position as the game progressed, and won without an effort. Fletcher, G undersoil, Smith, McKenzie (s) v. Witchell, O’Rourke, Bills, Brown (s), 9-18. The game, at one stage, was 13-2 in Otaki’s favour, then 13-4, after which Lyall Bay added some singles, a three and a two. Moran, Canning,Tyrell, Morrah (s) v, Bramley, O’Rourke, Brown, Bills — 3-6. Fletcher, Gunderson, Witchell, MeKonzio v. Gooding, Ayre, Kilmister, Noble —6-10. The game McKenzie v. Oliver (score sard unavailable) ended in Lvall Bay’s favour 10-2, The above three games were not finished owing to rain. On tho aggregate Lyall Bay won by the narrow margin of one point, but counting the unfinished games Otaki won four games out of six.
