BOWLING.
- Very few bowlers patronised the , local green ou AVcdnesday, due to the ' threatening weather, and those who were present wore obliged to abandon ', their- games later on, owing to j rain setting in. The green was heavy, 1 and play was not of a high order, geni orally. I In a match for the Bills' Trophy, Noble and Canning went under badly to Bills and St. George, the latter pair almost establishing a record for the green, 34—10. The winners, at the outset, sent along "good stuff," and on tho first three heads recorded 4,3, and 5 in succession. A four and a two, shortly followed by another five, were then "added, Noble and Canning in the meantime scoring occasionally. The game was 19—2 against them on the eighth head, 2G —5 on the thirteenth, 32 —8 on the seventeenth, and 34—10 on tho final head. The losers' display was eertainly below their usual standard, and on a future occasion they hoje to turn the tables.
' Three rinks from Lyall Bay Club are expected in Otaki'to-morrow, and it is hoped that local players will not have . to be "rounded up," as on some pre- • vious occasions. These taking part in the matches should be sports, and take . as much interest in the games as the hard-worked officials.
