Miss Elsie Row, of Otaki, is tit present on a visit to friends in tho Wairarapa. Mr and Mrs C. E. Cumpsty left Otaki on Monday eu route for Wairarapa, wherfe they will spend a holiday. Private Hebden Bennett, "who has been visiting his parents at dtnki, returned to Rotorua yesterday morning for further treatment. Mrs 11. Witchell, who has been in un indifferent state of health for some time past, leaves Otaki in a few days' time mi holiday. It is hoped the chaDge will be beneficial. Word has been' received that Private Murray Hodge, son of Mrs Hodge, of T._ , Horo, who has been it prisoner of war in Germany, died recently at CologVc. Much regret is felt for his mother ai'? other relatives, who have long bcWM J suspense, as to his whereabouts. Major W. F. Narbcy, of Tarauakj, attuehed ro the Wellington Regiment, has been awarded the Croix de Guerre for gallantry in the field. Major Narbey, who is only :;o years of age. left with ' the Main Body and served at Cullipoli. Mrs Pearless and family, who liavo resided in Otaki for some considerable time past, will return to Nelson district (Brightwater) next week. During their stay here the Pcarlesfl family have made hosts of friends. They have identified themselves with the life of the place, and buve proved most useful members of the community. In lenni* and musical circles, iu particular, they will be specially missed. Lieutenant-Colonel I'earless, who has returned from military service, has resumed his medical profession at Nelson district, hence the: family's removal.
