The Auckland Weekly News reports : —Oats are unchanged during the week. The market is strong at 2s 8d off the wharf. Information of the state of the Sydney market is meagre, but the strong inquiry for maize (or kindred grain) strengthens the feeling. The astute ones in this trade look for Sh as a -price prior to Christmas, &h southern stocks are in demand for all the colonies in Australia, and all the evidences are towards a late harvest in this colony. Potatoes—This is the critical "time when condition is everything. The new crop of round is very late, and as the esculent is, in many cases, a ne-

cessary, demand for the best old is strong with supplies bare. What is obtainable cannot be bought under £3 15s to £4 per ton ex store. Cheese—The new season's make is offering plentifully, with deraaud not equal to the supply. There is a weakness, except in high quality factory make, the demand for which from Australia is stronger as the summer comes on. All the produce Hne3 are subject to the tariff revision supposed to be on the point of making in the New South Wales Parliament, and as soon as it is definitely known what the new duties are, New Zealand will be much more steady than they are at the present moment.
