Land Board.

The Land Board met on Monday, Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Stock, Heslop, and Roy. CAPITALISATION. The following applied to capitalise: G. F. Ranby, Section 4, Block 9, Kaupokonui; W. Lewis, Sections 20 and 21, Block 9, Kaupokonui. ACQUIRING FREEHOLD. The Board sanctioned the following applications to acquire freehold : —E. O’Sullivan, Section 24, Block 14, Cape; T. Collins, Section 10, Block 5, Opunake; W. E. Porter, Section 12, Block 8, Kaupokonui; D, J. Hughes, Section 10, Block 6, Kaupokonui ; Palmer and Ofi, Section 17, Block 9, Kaupokonui. MORTGAGES. Six applications to mortgage were dealt with. ARREARS. The New Plymouth Harbor Board stated the judgment bad been obtained against T. G. Dewar, Section 4, and H. E. Wilkinson, Section 6, Block 3, Ngatimaru, and had been unable to obtain arrears for rent, and asked the Board to proceed under section 124 of The Land Act, 1892. —It was decided that notice be served accordingly, and that unless the amount is paid within 30 days the lease is liable to forfeiture. EXPLANATION. G. Moar explained why the required improvements had not been made on Section 4, Block 2, Ngatimaru, and promised to effect them. Held over until next meeting.—A similar statement was made by Mr C. A. Rich. Allowed until end of the year.—Mr G. A. Rich’s section was declared forfeited, and extension of time to January was allowed Mrs R. A. Smith. PROPOSED EXPENDITURE. Proposals for expenditure from the Manganui Road Board, Moa Road Board, Waimate Road Board, and Hawera County Council, were considered. APPEAL. The appeal of Mrs Tocker against the forfeiture of Section 1, Block 8, Huiroa, was considered. —After hearing the explanation, it was decided that under the special circumstances of the case, failing the payment of all arrears of rent by the 26th inst., the lease will become absolutely forfeited from that date. ACCOMMODATION HOUSE. Mr J. O.McKoy applied for permission to erect an accomodation house at Tougaporutu on one of the township sections.—Applicant wall be allowed to occupy one acre on a site to be pointed out by the District Surveyor ; and that the section be afterwards put up to auction, weighted with the value of any improvements effected by him. ranger’r report. The Ranger reported taking possession of Section 22, Block 9, Ngatimaru, with improvements to the value of £56 15s 6d. The praire value he recommended at 22s 6d per acre.—lt was decided that the Government be asked for the opinion of the Law Officers whether forfeited sections, cannot be opened again for selection 30 days after forfeiture, in the case of appeal not being lodged without the same being notified in the usual way.—News.
