PROSPECTING.
(to the editor.) Sir, —I see in one of our dailies a local taken from your paper stating that a prospecting party were about to go to the Kaitaki ranges for the purpose of looking for gold and obtaining quartz for crushing. I had a good share of experience in those ranges years since, and if the parties will take a hint from me I would advise them to make for a place called the “ Boar’s Head,” and get stuff from there. No doubt there are some persons still to the fore that -were associated with myself-living in your neighborhood who would conduct them to that spot; I am too old for that. The time of year is rather-bad for searching the ranges. I may say I had great faith in the “ Boar’s Head ”as a place for prospecting. I wish the venture prosperity.—l am, &c., Robert Hughes, Senr. New Plymouth, July 5, 1895.
