—♦ Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report. New Plymouth, July 4. Ciit'.le.—On Monday I held a clearing sale at Ngaire, of Mr B. Snook’s dairy stock. There was a fair attendance, but the cows were not a first class lot, and did not meet with brisk competition. Prices ranged from £4 7s 6d to £5 10s for early calvers, while aged cows made £2 15s to £4. At Eahotu, on Wednesday, all cattle advertised did not come forward, the rough weather, no doubt, being answerable for the shortage. Young stock were in good demand, and except iu e one instance where reserve was absurdly high, every line sold at satisfactory prices. Heifers, springing and in calf, were well competed for, and anything with reasonable reserves sold well, I quote—Small calves, £1 ; good do., 27s fid to 82s; yearlings, 37s fid to £2 6s ; springing heifers, £4 2s fid; do., in calf, £3 10s ; ewes, in lamb Cs lOd. Egmont Farmers’ Union (Ltd.) . Report. Hawera, July 4. Our monthly horse fair was held on Saturday, 29th June. The attendance was good and the advertised number of horses came forward. Bidding was better than for some time past and a fair number of horses were sold. Mr Farrington’s horses, machinery, &c., sold well. We quote—Draughts, £8 to £l9 ; light harness horses, £8 10s to £l4 ; hacks, £3 5s to £9 ss; well-bred yearlings, and foals, £7 to £9 15s; traps and waggonettes (new), £lB 10s to £2O 10s.

Manaia sale was held on Wednesday, 3rd iuat. All the advertised stock did not come forward, but other lines made up the number, [the attendance was small and bidding consequently slack, though- for some few lines competition was keen. We quote—Forward steers, £4 2s 6d to £4 10s ; steers, £3 12s 6d to £8 17s 6d; 18-month to 2year do., £2 8s 6d to £2 8s ; fat cows, £3 19s to £4 2s 6d; calves, 20s to 81s. Messrs Nolan, Tonks and Co.’s Stock Report. On the 27th ult., our usual sale was held at Manaia. The yards were well filled. There was good enquiry, and most lines sold freely. We held a clearing sale of dairy stock, &c., on account of Mr M. Costello on 26th ult., cows bringing from £5 to £2 6d ; heifers, £3 7s Gd to £5 16s ; ‘draught mare, £22. At Eltbam on 2nd inst., we had a good master. Good competition existed for young stock and dairy Cows and heifers in bankrupt estate of J Farrell, sold well, cows averaging £5 8s 6d ; heifers, £4 ss. On the 3rd inst., we disposed of Mr J. Preece’s dairy. The cows and heifers were a good lot, for which there was keen competition', cows ranging from £5,5s to £8 12s Gl ; heifers, £4 10s to £6 2s 6d; dry cows, £3 ; weaners, 80s. At Haweta, on 4th inst., the quantity of stock advertised came forward, most of which were quitted before leaving the yards. We quote—Air Manaia—Springing heifers, £3 15s to £4 10s; cows, close to calving, £5 to £5 17s 6d ; 2 to 2£year steers, £3 8s 6d to £3 10s 6d ; fat cows, £3 15s to £4. At Eltbam—Forward cows, £3 10s to £3 18s ; springing heifers, £3 15s to £4 6s; store cows, £2 13s to £3 3s ; 18 month heifers, 38s to 40s ; yearlings, 85s to £36 ; weaners, 26s to 275. - At Hawera— steers, £3 12s ; forward cows, £3 7s to £3 18s; weaners, 25s 6d to to 80s 6d; springing heifers, £3 15s to £4 10s ; yearling to 18-month steers, £2 4s to £2 7s; cows and calves, £8 13s. Messrs Hunter and Nolan’s Report. Auckland, July 5. Horses The demand has continued steady, and a good many have been brought forward. The Durham Yards were well filled on Friday, and bidding was good throughout the sals. We quote—Heavy draught, £l3 to £l9 10s 5 medium draught. £9los to £ls ; light harness, £5 10s to £9 r hacks, £4 to £9 10s. , . Cattle.—The supply has been limited. A steady demand has existed, and prices have been slightly in favor of the vendor. There was a small muster at, the Newmarket yards on Tuesday, but agoodone at Papakura on Wednesday, notwithstanding the bad weather and the roads.
