Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. Cattle.—At Stratford, on Tuesday, there was a small muster of stock, the prevailing low prices offering no inducement for stockowners to yard their cattle. There was, however, a largo attendance, and a good many buyers present; these, however, were very chary of buying, though actually in want of stock ; the unsettled state of the market being doubtless accountable for the somewhat nervous hesitation manifested in operating at the hammer. After the sale I succeeded in placing most of the principal lines, only one pen of 3-year old bullocks being sent home. I quote : Calves, IGs 6d; 12 to 15-month steers, 35s Gd2-year-old do., £2 ss; cows, in calf, £3 12s Gd to £3 15s; fat do., £3 15s to £1 2s Gd.
