Land Board.

The Land Board met on Monday. Present:—Messrs Kelly (in the chair), Stock, Heslop, and Roy. LANDS APPLIED FOE. The lands applied for since the last nieetiug were as under :—Section 10, Block 9, Ngatimara, G. Lorimer, 276 acres (agreed to), and 17 small sections in ihe Ngaire Block balloted amongst the workmen on the drains in the swamp. The Board took no action in respect to the latter, as the prices have not been finally fixed. TRANSFERS. M. Fleming applied to transfer d.p. Section 16, Block 12, Cape, to J. F. n Fleming.—Agreed to. Mr A. 0. Fookes protested agaiust the action of the Board in delaying the transfer of Section 49, Block 10, Huiroa, from H. Okey to R. Benefield. —The Board decided to wire to the Government for advice as to whether the lessee may transfer until he has held a section for twelve months. Mr Govetfc appeared for Mr Okey. ACQUIRING FREEHOLD. The following applied for freehold of p.l. lands:—A Bissett, Section 6, Block 3,Hawera ; M.Hopson, Section 14, Block 13, Waitara ; C. H. Korte, Section 26, Block 9, Kaupokonui.— Granted. MORTGAGES. Nine applications to mortgage—one to a private gentleman and the balance to the Government Advances Superintendent —were dealt with. EXEMPTION. G. W. Gane was granted exemption from residence of Section 10, Block 2, Opunake, for about four years. RESCINDED. The motion with regard to the application of the Rev Mr Walker and Mrs Wells to purchase portion of the Holdsworthy Road, was rescinded. PETITION. A petition was received from H. McKenzie and four other selectors in Block 2, Upper Waitara, asking that the price of their sections be reduced. —lt was decided to inform the applicants that the only way in which the Board can assist them is for them to surrender their leases, and have them re-offered for public competition, weighted with the valuation for improvements. DECLINED. W. Burman, who was granted a yearly lease of Sections .834, 834, and 835, Stratford, on 17th April last, asked that it be made a lease for 14 years, as an inducement to settle.— Declined. SKEET ROAD. A petition was received from D. MeEdowie and others asking that the deferred payments money accruing from Sections 24, Block 16, Kaupokonui, and 10, Block 13, Ngaire, be spent on the Skeet Road between the Inaha stream and the railway station, as Te Roti is the nearest outlet for the sections.—Consideration was deferred to enable the report to be received from the ranger. ROAD ACCESS. Mr Williamson appeared about the road access to Section 23, Block 4, Huiroa, aud pointed out that he had not taken'up the land as a speculation, as alleged.—The Board decided to ask Mr Williamson to reply to tho memo, sent him, slating definitely whether he will or will not surrender the section to the Crown. YEARLY TENANCY. Rev G. Clement appeared with a request for a yearly tenancy of Section 168, Town of Stratford, and also that when the land is again offered for sale the same consideration be shown with regard to a reduction of price as in the • case of the religious bodies.—He was told that no reduction had been made in prices other than a general reduction over the whole township when resurveyed in December, 1893. The application for a yearly tenancy is to be sent in writing by the next meeting. The Board adjourned.—News.
