Taranaki County Council.

An ordinary meeting of the Taranaki County Council was held on Monday. Present: Messrs W. Bewley (chairman), Horrocks, Adiam, McCullum, McGloin, Peters, Tate, Okey, and Contfett. ■>''- BYE-LAWS. A special'meetingwas held prior to the ordinary to formally confirm the slaughter-house by-laws. On Mr Peter's motion the by-laws were adopted. ■ V TENDERS. The Council went into committee to open tenders. The following were accepted ; No I contract (Waitara) Sampson? No '%■ (Moa, I *' Pennington ; No 3, Petch ; No 4, Curd; No 5, Mapp ; W> 6\ W. Tedd ; No 7, Bishell; No 1, (Omata), A. George,; No 2, Julian ; No 1, (Parihaka), B. Gray ; No 2, W. C. Phillips: No 3, Costello; No 4, Denton;-No 1 s,.Sherrin ; No 7, Collins. . .. WITHDRAWN. Mr Sam Hill, representing Mrs C. Thomason, waited upon the Council with reference to a summons that had been issued against Mr Thomason for rates. Mr Hill stated that bis client bad hevetownedthe section referred to. The Council decided to withdraw the summons. "2 ' crossing. The Egmont Boad Board (through Mr Hill), asked the Council to put a paved crossing on Devon Boad—The matter, it is understood, was deferred for consideration. The Council here adjourned to Wednesday week.—News.
