Opunake Town Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, 11th February. Present: Messrs Rogers (Chairman), O'Brieu, Seccombe, Stewart, and D. McGregor. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence from J. R. Stewart, C.E. and surveyor per W. F. Robinson notifying that he had opened an office in Opunake. Resolved, That letter be acknowledged and that should any works be undertaken requiring his services his application would be borne in mind. (Rogers—Stewart). From Uuder- Secretary Lands and Survey Department, stating that there was no power to vest reserves for harbor purposes as it could only be done by special act. Outward correspondence was read and approved. Resolved, That the Board will accept a fee of 5s from R. Mather for registering his dog for last year. Mr Seccombe drew attention to the state of the drain running in front of his premises which was filled with extremely offensive matter. A general disussion ensued on the question of drainage and the nuisance caused by offensive matter being allowed to drain on to the streets. Resolved, That the Board requests the police to take action under the Police Offences Act as suggested by the Board's solicitor to abate the nuisance caused by the overflow of dirty water into the streets. Several accounts were passed for payment.
DOMAIN BOARD. Same members, Mr H. H. Seccombe in the chair. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Letter from Mrs Tuke requesting permission to transfer her interest in sections in Government paddock to Mr J. Twomey. Resolved, That request be granted. [Stewart-O'Brion.J
