Wesleyan Bazaar, Oaonui.

The bazaar and sale oi work in aid of the Wesleynn Church fund was held on Friday evening, at Oaonui. The display of goods was very good, and at times during the eveniug the room was crowded. The drapery stall was under the charge of Miss Malcolm and Miss Eoberts, who lost no opportunity of pushing trade. Miss Peutelow had charge of the flower stall, which was very artistically decorated with choice flowers. Mesdames Cook aud Kirkwood had charge of the refreshment stall, which was loaded with eatables of all descriptions, both delicate and substantial, and received very vigorous patrouge throughout the evening. The button sewing competition, which was in charge of Miss McFie, created great amusement. The contest, was for the gentlemen, and eleven entered, mostly bachelors. The young ladies kept a very sharp eye on their efforts with a view to selecting a suitable helpmate, and what with the young ladies' sharp eyes and the sharp points of the needles wben they missed the button the bachelors had a warm time of it. Mr Jas Young came in first, with Mr Jonas a good second. During the eveniug Mr Fisher contributed three songs which were well rendered, and well received by the audience. Mr Silvestor contributed two songs in good style. A trio by Miss Malcolm and Messrs Silvestor and Pentelow was very nicely rendered. Mr Hutchens played the accompaniments throughout the evening. The takings amounted to something over £lO, and thanks are due to all those who so kindly assisted.
