INCONSISTENCY.

(to the editor.) Sir, —It is quite refreshing to read Cr Hemmingway’s remarks about the people in the Parihaka Riding and the quality of the soil, especially coming from him. But what strikes me as being “ mighty odd ” is that a man comes into this district without enough money to buy a single cow, and in eight years clears out with (according to his own statement) over £IOOO, all of which, to my mind, speaks volumes about the gullability of the people and the fertility of the soil.—l am, &c., W. E. Wright, Eahotu.
