New Plymouth, October 18. At Stony Elver on Wednesday the yards were crowded. There was a nice lot of yoqng stock yarded, and bidding for this class was very animated, nearly every pen being sold at the hammer after keen competition. Three pens of good 2 to 2j year steers,' came forwaflS, and were well competed for, and with the exception of one pen, on which the reserve was too high, all

sold at satisfactory prices. Few dairy cattle were offered, and these being of

only 'medium quality did not meet with . much competition. I quote—Small <&lves, 255, good do, £2 Is 6d r yearHngs, t2 18s 6d, 2 to steers, £Blss, heifers in calf £Blßs, springers, $4.125, store cows, £3 10s, fresh condition do, £4, fat do, £4 18s. On Thursday at Richmond Road I held a sale, in conjunction with Messrs Wyllie' and Hignetfc, of Mr Joseph Asher’s dairy cattle and farm stock, also a nice lot of Jerseys from Mr Henwood: Mr Asher’s dairy cows were a very nice lot, and sold well at prices ranging from £3 10s to £8 15s. Mr Henwood’s Jersey cows at £5 5s to £7 ss, heifers to £4 7s 6d, yearlings £2 5s 6d. Sundries made fair price?.
