WAR CRY is a graceful chestnut, full of life and activity. He possesses good jumping strains, being by Volunteer out of Lucy, the dam of Manaia (the Auckland hurdler), and Ngaueko. Lucy by Master Rowe, out of an Australian thoroughbred mare by The Sluggard. Master Rowe (b) by Towton (a), out of Miss Rowe (b). Lucy was also a good performer in her time. He is by Puriri, by Treason, out of Bishop of Osnaburgh mare. Being by that sterling sire Puriri, who sired such winners as Foresters, Jenny, Escapade, Eufus, Corsair, Bob Eoy, and a host of others, he should, if properly mated, be able to leave some very useful crosscountry horses, and his hacks from ordinary mares are hard to beat.
