A meeting of settlers on the Kahwi Road East was held to-day, to consider the advisibility of raising a loan to metal their road. There were about a dozen present. Mr Morrison, one of the members of the Road Board, took the chair. It was proposed by Mr Townshend, and seconded by Mr O’Sullivan, “ That a loan of £IBOO be raised the par pose of forming and metalling, the Kahni East Road.” After sorae desultory discussion the motion was pot and carried, there being only one dissentient.
Several of those present then handed in a resolution to this effect : “That we, the undersigned, are agreeable to allow metal to be taken from our respective sections for the purpose of metalling the road, at the rate of Id per yard. (Signed) Towflahend, Mills, Rothery, Smith, Cblmer, O’Sullivan, Harvey, Dougherty. Messrs Rothery and Wile/ also offered to provide the timber necessary for culverMng, &c, free. * ; It was resolved, “ That the poll take place on Saturday, October 6th, 1894, in Mr Swinnerton’s store, R*hotu. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. September 26th.
