Bolton v. Graham. Claim £33 10s, for i icking fungus on plaintiff’s contract. Mr Scoft-Smith for plaintiff. Mr Bennett for defendant. Judgment reserved.
R. Palmer and Co v. Aim Ray. Claim £6 los. Mr Bennett for plaint:ff. Judgment by default.
J. Cullen v. G. Little. Claim 10s 6d. Mr Scott-Smith for plaintiff. A cheque was received per post from Wellington by plaintiff, and a question arose as to whether it was good or not. Judgment for claim, with costs.
Exley v. H. Reid. Claim £5 ss. Mr Scott-Smith for plaintiff. Judgment by default. Scott-Smith v. Simpson. Claim 14s 4d, being balance for advising defendant re contemplated action against Hawera County Council. Adjourned for evidence of Ronald Mclntosh, whom Simpson held responsible for the debt.
Hemmingway v. J. D. Hurley. This was withdrawn. G. Hemmingway was said to have admitted error in account, but G. A. Hurley appeared as agent for J. D. Hurley and applied for cos's. Granted. Police v. Ellis Vine. Signing receipt of £4 without costs. Pleaded guilty. The solicitor pleaded that this was not an intentional evasion of Stamp Act, but E. Vine received the money whilst on his cart round without stamps. T. R. Exley, defendant’s former employer, gave evidence, and stated that he believed T. Baxter laid information out of spite. T. Baxter denied this. Fined 10s and costs.
A. Hight v. Richardson, Reardon and Co. Mr Bennett, for plaintiff, applied for costs. The claim having been paid into Court costs were allowed.
