PICNIC TOURNAMENT

During the past week-end the Opotiki Club conducted a highly successful picnic tournament. Playing conditions were almost perfect and visiting teams commented most favourably on the condition and playing qualities of the green. 23 teams competed, including 7 from Whakatane, 1 from Taneatua and <3 from the Opotiki Citizens’ Club. Section “A” was won by a, Whakatane team skipped by “Pop” Holliday, who won all six games played, while Section “B” was won by another Whakatane team, skipped byMr. Howatt, this team also winning all six games. In the final, Holliday defeated Howatt by a small margin. Mr. 11. Cox presented trophies to the members of both teams and congratulated them on their success. Both skips suitably replied.
