WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

OTARA GARDEN CIRCLE The October meeting of the Otara Women’s Garden Circle was held at the residence of Miss S. Butler. There was a good attendance of members who were welcomed by the chairwoman. The weather was ideal and the beautiful gardens which are a credit to Miss Butler were viewed by members during the afternoon. The business was dealt with, and some very interesting books on English wild flowers were looked through. A very amusing memory test competition which was arranged by Mrs. Ilcdley was won by Miss Butler. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostess after which the exchange of plants took place. The best bloom competition was judged by Mrs. Henry, the results being as follows: — • Mrs. S. Parkinson (water lily) 1, Mrs. W. Young (rose) 2, Mrs. Appleton (lilac) 3.
