“GREEN DOLPHIN STREET” PREMIERE The following cable lias been received by M.G.M., New Zealand: Among those who gave' M.G.M.’s “Green Dolphin Street” a tremendous ovation at its gala premiere at the Criterion Theatre New York, were many well-known New Zealand and Australian diplomatic personalities, and British Empire press representatives. The film had particular significance for them, since much of the action is set in New Zealand, English-born Victor Saville,- who directed “Green Street,” was host at the premiere and at the reception which followed. . Prominent New Zealanders among the audience included the Hon. James Thorn, U.N. Delegate, J„ V. Wilson, Dr. W. B. Sutch, Economic Advisor to the New Zealand Government and lan Berendsen, whose father is New Zealand Minister to the U.S. Also in the New Zealand contingent were Miss Nola Luxford, and George Rangi. Bennett; the latter, who is of Maori descent, flew from New Zealand to Hollywood some months ago to act as technical adlisor on the film. Among the Australians present— Major General John Chapman, U. N. Delegate and Australian Military Attache,, John Oldham, U.N. Delegate (Australian), and John Gordon Bridges, Press attache at the Australian Embassy. Made on a six-million-dollar-bud-get, “Green Dolphin Street”, stars Lana Turner, Van Heliin, Donna Reed and Richard Hart. Comments of some of those present were as follows: Dr. W. B.
