A BRIEF MEETING A mccjing of the Opotiki Borough Council \vas held in the borough chambers® fast night. Present : The Mayor (Mr. Cf. S. Moody), Councillors F. ,1. Short, S. F. Webb, Cl. L. Day and -Mr. \Y. H. Briggs (town clerk). The minutes of the previous meeting wore confirmed and outward correspondence approved. .Accounts were passed for payment ajs follows:—District Fundi Account, £1206 2s -Id; Wharf Account, £llß 2s -Id ; Domain Board Account, £1 4s 6d. Bank balances: District Bund (dr.), £1169 14s 3d; Wharf (or.) £l9l 12s 8d; Domain (or.) £24- Ms lid. A letter was received asking the council to contribute towards the expenses of the health inspector’s trip to a conference. The council decided to vote £l. The Opotiki County Council wrote stating that, while it was in sympathy with the request, it was not in a position toi contribute £260 towards the c-ost of the proposed Blanket mull Best Booms but will willing to pay £ot) as previously offered. —The letter wn.s “received”. As Or. Short found it necessary to leave the meeting, the council decided tu adjourn the meeting until 60th. December. The Mayor stated that it would be the last meeting before Christinas and extended hearty seasonal greetings to members of the council, stall and the press. The deputy-mayor replied on behalf of the councillors. FOREMAN’S BKPOKT The borough foreman, Air. J. Serjeant, presented the following report: Dam scoured and intake cleaned. Water service repaired, a I,so 'several stop cocks. Fire plugs cleaned and four plugs in buck streets concreted Oft. at; tin re. 'Footpaths grubbed free of weeds and rubbish carted away. Ragwort sprayed in hack streets. 10 chain of footpath, Church Street, surface dressed with colfix and sand. Strip 47ft. x 4ft. in Church Street scabs 11. Fore] Street path patched. 10ch. x 42ft. in Church Street has been sealed. This job is completed. • Roads patched with river metal. Approximately 40yds. metal carted to dump. Bonds and intersections graded and planed. Bridge, St. John and 'Elliott Streets patched with premix. Traffic lines are being painledi. Crass cut at cemetery and taken away. TOnlrance to Bowling Club grubbed and metalled with river metal. (tenoral maintenance carried out.
