IHU-fSKINTA'I lON TO Mlf. lIRO AVLANI) Christmas Services were hold at St, John’s Presbyterian Church on SunJay. During the morning service, several choral items were rendered by <rronn-i of specially trained children. In the evening, Rev. A. C. Hampton took a s the subject of his address, ‘ ‘Tim .Ministry of Music”. Solo items from Handel’s Messiah” wore presented, the.se being: ‘Ho shall feed his flock” by Mrs. T. Steele, “Come I nto Me”, by .Mrs. L. Duff, and “He. Was Despised”, by Miss NT Thompson. Mr. H. Holmes rendered most acceptably “Why do the Nations rage” ; after which the choir sang “Anti the Glory”. Tho choir also sang two carols, solo parts being taken by Mr. H. Rowland. , After the evening service the congregation repaired to St. John s Hall, which had been tastefully decorated for the occasion by the ladies, to bid farewell to the choirmaster, Mr, H. Rowland. A dainty supper was served, after which Mr. Hampton asked Mr. Rowland to come forward. Miss Sarah Parkinson presented a fragrant- bouquet to Mr,s. Howland. Complimentary speeches were made by Mr. I><‘breccny cm heliall ol the board el managers.. Mr. Reeves on behalf of the kirk session. Mr. Steele on heliall of the ladies of the choir, and Mr. Holmes on behalf of the choir. Mr. Hampton then made a presentation to Mr. Rowland, referring to the splendid service lie had rendered to tl, e church.
