AMATEUR ATHLETICS

CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING The following were present at. a: meeting of the Opotiki.Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club :—.Messrs. T. Hickey (chairman), H. Cordon, Griffin, C. J. Tabb, S. Carter, Button, Fleming and Roberts. Apologies were received from Messrs. Inskip, Delamore, Beattie and *J. McCaldon. InWqrd and outward correspondence was read and dealt with. .It was decided that the secretary obtain all information in regard to a lasi season’s cup for the 75 yards junior girls, when the matter will bo brought up-J'or consideration.. It was decided to hold the next meeting on November the 27th., and subsequently' every fortnight. The last meeting before Christina's will be held on the 11 tli. December and the first meeting after Christmas will bp notified through the press. It was decided that, a request be made to the people of Opotiki for a .subscription with ■ a view to obtaining honorary members. The secretary was instructed to make out a list of competitors eligible for subscriptions for this year. All competitors must have their subscriptions paid by the '3lst. December or forfeit their right to obtain points for their events. Subscriptions may be paid to Mr. J. .Inskip or Mr. B. L. Roberts.

A complaint was received from the borough comncil that several iron pegs were left on the ground alter the last athletic meeting. It was decided to take steps to ensure the gear bo made inaccessible as it was apparently' removed illegally and left lying around. The following officials were appointed for future meetings:—

Results Steward, Mr. R. Faulkner. Judges.—Running events, Messrs. Upton, Wilkinson, Tabb and! H. Hawkins. Field events, Messrs. Griffin and T. Black. Starter, Mr. J. Medallion. Starter’s assistants, Messrs. S. Carter and H. Gordon. Call steward, Mr. Shceran. Time-keepers, Me.ssrs. S. Jephson and O. Creagli. Referee, Mr. C. S. Morris. Cycling steward, Mr. I). Beattie Runner, Mr. G. Rearson.

It was decided to keep stricter control of persons on the ground before the commencement of meetings especially those running across the tapes lor the. running events. Entries for the next meeting, on the 27t1i., must bo in by 5 p.m. on the 24th. Handicaps are to be in Mr. Hickey’s hands, by 12 noon : on the 24th. and handicap allotments will he published in the ‘.‘News” on the' 24th.
