MEETING AT WAIOTAHI International Day was celebrated by the Waiotahi Women’s Itastitute on November Bth. with a very enjoyable programme, Mrs. W. 11. Varied ideas were Expressed!, the concensus of opinion being that peace in the home, prayer, the power of Christianity, with the encouragement of free speech and ailing of grievances, are . the best influences Ivemen can wield, I The (ioiltlen 'thread on “Personalities of the Day”, was given by Mrs. bn Pontet on Queen Milhelnwna of Holland. and a letter by a Canadian correspondent of the London 'limes on our King and Queen’s visit to the United States was also read. A parade of national head-dresses of countries was held, effective designs being exhibited. .. Airs. N. Clark, of Nukuhou, who returned recently from the AY -I. tour of England and the Continent, gave a vivid account of her travels in Holjnnd, Germany, Switzerland, England Scot and Ireland. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed bv Airs. Leisliniiiii, who also presented Mrs. Clarlc with a dainty posy. Two hew members, 'Mrs. A. Ran and Airs. R. Brown, wen* 'welcomed tor the institute. Tluj; competitions were judgedl by Airs. Clark and resulted as follows: Soup plate of mixed flowers: Mrs. W. Cooney 1, Mrs. Scott 2. , Rest bloom ; Jllrs. Snell ( paeony ) 1. Airs. Looney 2. Rest vegetable : Airs. Bachmann and Airs. Looney 1, Airs. Snell and Mrs. Looney 1. Airs.. Snell and Mrs. Reeve 2. A stall in aid of funds for the “Christmas Tree” was very .successful. Afternoon tea. was served by the hostesses, Alesdames Cunningham, Leishimin. and Newton. The singing of the National Anthem brought the afternebn. to a close.
