DANGER OF ELVTI NOTION JOH ANN KSJH’RG, An- B.—' Xho Zulu Regent, Mshiyeni, made an appeal to the Minister of Native Affairs, Air. H. A. Fagan, at a meeting in Natal to consider giving his people “right.s and privileges 'to make thejii a strong nation,” reports the S.A*>t ■ Press Association. Mshiyeni said that in. certain cases their traditions had been despoiled. That they did not want. Their Avivcs were" running away from them and their girls were being ruined in front of their eyes and they could do notlinig. ' They felt Zulus wore becoming reduced mid in time the Zulu won hi become exinet. Tie dosired/tlie Zulu nation to become a strong people, hut lie felt they had not the necessary rights and privileges. He said the authorities''had taken over the brewing and selling of beer..'.’ and the natives were not allowed to make beer in private houses. In the towns they drank European liquor which -'went to their heads. Ho asked whether a better system could be devised.
