Special Services. Tlie Rev. I’. 13. Tinsley, of Hamilton, will conduct the special Home Mission Service to he held in the Methodist Church on Sunday evening next. A Family Record. A good record for enlistment has been put up by an Opotiki family. It was announced at the farewell evening on Saturday night that four members of the Snell family had enlisted for the Special New Zealand Force. A • New Zealand Airmen. In addition to the New Zealand offer to supply the Royal Air Force with' trained pilots and! other personnel, there are already 400 New Zealanders in England training for pilots in the lloya I Air Force. Businsss Annoimietmnt. MV. H. L. Parkinson announces in our advertising columns that he has taken over the business previously, conducted by Mr. G. E. Ncmvorthy, and asks for a fair share of public patronage. Land-Tax Payment. The . Commissioner .of Taxes draws the attention of taxpayers to the notification appearing in to-day’s issue., that the due date of payment of Landtax for the' current year is cm Tuesday, the 17th, day of October, 1900, ahjj that the demands will he posted on or before the 10th. day of October. Tc-morrow Night’s Concert. „ •Great interest is ‘being taken in the combined concert and community sing .to;-be, held in connection ..with the “recreation week” celebrations this week. .The concert’will he held in the Regent Hall to-morrow night and it is expected there will be a packed house. The proceeds will go towards the patriotic funds. “Shipwreck Shuffle’’. A reminder is given of the huge “shipwreck shuffle” dance to be held in the Lyric Hall to-night at 8.1*3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the host shipwreck costumes. Surprises, novelties, 'streamers and confetti will he scattered amongst tho fun. The proceeds are to go to the Red Gross Society. The Prime Miniser. The Prime Minister, the Kt. Hon. M. J, Savage, who has made an excellent recovery front his recent illness, expects to -make an appearance in the House of Representatives before tin- gnd of tlie session. Mr. Savage is - now sufficiently well to go for walks in the' vicinity of Jils home at Northland; and recently lie visited Wellington on private business. Fire in Borough. * -The damage done by the fire at the: .rear ef Rostgard’s buildings on Thursday night did considerable damage to the contents of tlie sited!, which was divided into three compartments. It is considered the outbreak occurred in the portion tised by Mr. Smith. Heavy loss was sustained by Mr. J. J). Clark, who lost a great many medicine bottles and a large store of corks. About a ton of coal, the property of Mi. Huff, was also partly bunted. Snap Decisions. Snap decisions were made by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R.
