MEETING AT WAIOTAHI The monthly meeting oi the AA aiotahi Women’s Institute was held on September 20, Mrs.' W. 11. Payne presiding. Arrangements were* mack: lor the biannual- federation ■ meeting to be held at Waiotahi on October 3, and Alesda.mes L. V. Looney and Wagner were appointed delegates. A questiouaire from the Dominion Federation asking for information as t 0 the work which could be undertaken by the institute in ease of national emergency was dealt with, and the form of help to be given ’arranged for. It was also decided to take lip some lied Gross work immediately. Mrs. V. Wilson was appointed delegate to. the Pan-Pacific Conference tobe held in Wellington in January. Competitions ‘resulted as follows: Best Bloom : Airs. P. Looney (hyacinth) 1, Mrs. Snell fpansy) 2. Best Vegetable: Mrs. P. Looney (lettuce) 1. Aliss B. Du Bontct'(carrot) 2. Article from Felt Hats; Aliss J. Xeilson (slipper) I- Alts. AA aguer (work basket) 2. Afternoon tea was served by Airs. Backmann and the singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close. WAIOTAHI CARDEN CIRCLE The September meeting nl the AAaiotalii -Garden Circle was belli at Airs. (!. Watson’s borne on Friday. A competition. arranged by Mrs. AA . L. Looney. “A Flower Wedding’’, was vorv interesting, and tin- competition for the best single bloom made a line display. It wits decided to hold vegetable as well as flower competitions monthly . and co bold a stall for funds next month. AI tollmen tea was served by Airs. .Teffcrv ami Aliss B. Du Bontet. and Ihe well-kept garden and flowering shrubs were much admired.
