'I he- big event of the day, the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Challenge cup, attracted live teams. Opotiki A team, after great shooting, wen the cup. The points were: Opotiki A 81) points. Rotorua A 76, Te .1 cko 70, Opotiki B 00, Rotorua B 60. 'I he members of the winning team were: Messrs -Jack Boss' (enpt.), JC. 'lonic. F. Pratt, A. .Parkinson, Leo Parkin*, son, A. Fleming and \V. Acmmens. The president- of the Rotorua Club Air. J. Thomas, in making the .presentation of the cup to the 'captain oi the . Opotiki team, remarked on the wonderful spirit in which the event v,as contested, saying that fins was the third occasion Opotiki had euteied. Mr. Jack Ross, on .receiving the cup, suitably, replied. One of the outstanding performances in the cup was that of Air. W. Semmcus who shot 7th. man lor^ Opotiki, being a member of the Opotiki Club for the last 30 years. He is rcrognised as the “I’atlicr” of the Bay of Plenty Gun Club, lie shot 13 birds first barrel equalling the highest individual score in the Cup shoot. ■Great credit must be- given to the wonderful and untiring efforts of the Opotiki secretary, Air. G. ].-. Day, in organising the team to make tho trip.
