OTAR A 7th. BIRTHDAY The Otar a institute celebrated: their 7th. birthday at the Otara. Hall recently, members of sister institutes attending. The programme .commenced with the singing of the National Anthem and an address of welcome to visitors was given by the president, Mrs. AY. Gault. Airs, Rhmogar then played two pianoforte solos, and Mrs. Stewart gave a reading entitled “Blanchard Trousers.’’ A competition followed and was won by Airs. Thompson and the members of the Drama Circle gave a version of "•‘Hid- Mother Hubbard”., Mrs, C. Black they delighted with two fine songs, and this was followed by a debate, “Should Husbands Accompany Their Wives on Holiday”. The affirmative was taken by Airs. Beaufoy and Airs. Piunegar and the negative by Airs. Palmer and Airs. H. Parkinson. The judging was. done by Airs, do Aiontalk, who’gave the decision in favour of the affirmative. Afternoon tea was served by AleTdames Karp, AL'cCallion, -Young and AI isses Butler, Harrison and White. The birthday cake, made by -Mrs. Lowe and iced by Alms Harrison, was (ill, by Airs. Aloriee, the first president. The proceedings closed with popular songs by Alesdames G. Black, Hodley Jones and Eivershed. accompanied by Airs. P. Black, and the singing of tin* National Anthem.
