Hultcjuist is withholding the information given to him by the Acting Prime Minister, the council also decided to v.rite to the Hon. P. Fraser, asking him. to instruct the member to give this information to the council. Cr. C. Black said that the meeting had been called for the ••purpose of securing an expression of opinion from the people of the district. Air. Gault concurred with Cr. Black’s opinion and sail! that the member had been against holding the meeting at all. Cr. It. Medley said that when Mr. Ikdtqiiist attended a, Whakatane meeting he was eager to do what the meeting asked, hut when he came to Opotiki he tried to smash the meeting.
