MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE J* SHIELD .MATCH ARRANUFMENTS The following were present at the weekly meeting of the management •committee of Rugby Upion: Messrs. T. Hickey (chairman), Burrett, Roberts; .Black. Marj.oribonks, Dclamdre, Chapman and R. Bennett (secretary). The manager’s report on the Waikoj U i match was received and approved. The manager stated that the team met was only slightly superior and that Opotiki players made a good showing. The following arrangements were made for Saturday’s big shield game: Managers. Messrs. 1). Marjoribanks and \V. T. Ihirrett. Curtain-raiser ; Third Grade Reps. v. Old Boys. Managers for junior game, Messrs. Mulhern and C. Shove. It was decided that the players in the curtain-raiser .match should be asked to assist the union officials in keening spectators off the field at halftime. Match Officials:—Gatekeepers, mam irate, Messrs. Beat-tie, Bennett and J. Parkinson; east gate. -Messrs. Black and \v. McCullough; grand ' .stand, Messrs. i>. Mihacre and J. Pennell; field officials. -Messrs. T. Hudson, B. Parkinson. R. Hudson, T. Webb,,.! 1 . Chapman. It was decided) to approach the borough council with a. view to ha\ ing Victoria Street closed to traffic. An appeal will he made to shopkeepers to assist the union by closing between 2Jo p.m. and 4 p.m. Senior Competition.—On Saturday, September 9th.. a game will be played between 0.A1.P. and City seniors. Kusab Cup.—A request from the family of the- late Mr. Kusabs for a miniature to replace one lost was received. It was resolved to accede fo the request.
