Pumpkins’ Record Price.
Pumpkins disposed of I»v auction in iN'apier last week brought up to -is i-,d each. or £2 17s a dozen. “That must be a record price for this district,” said a leading Napier vendor on Thursday, “but the high level which ■pumpkin prices have readied is not surprising when it is remembered that rates have ranged irom 2s up' to nearly y-s (id each for some time now.” He added that pumpkins, like potatoes, were extremely scarce this year, and this fact accounted for the remarkable prices ruling. The pumpkins which sold at 4s 9d each lastweek were grown in the .Hay View district.
