ITALIANS IN ABYSSINIA
MANY WORKMEN RETURN LONDON, Fob. 13—The monthly' total of Italian workmen going to Abyssinia has declined to a few hundred 1 , while about 4COO workmen a month are being repatriated. The figures for the period since 1935 reveal that there were 198.000 emigrants and tlmt'-TBB.OOO were repatriated . I]he Italian Government has decided that in future it will not publish the numbers repatriated. it states that they include many soldiers who remained as workmen after demobilisation. It is believed that Italy is reducing expenditure on roads and! works, and also, that Abyssinia is proving unattractive to Italians.
