MATCIH AT OPOTIKI! WIN FOR. CONVENT GAMES AT GISBORNE! The Whakatane basket-bad team which visited Opotiki on Saturday last., was entertained by the members of the Convent basketball team. A game between the- two teams resulted in Opotiki Convent winning. Morning tea was served by the sisters and convent •pupils. Close Gisborne Games The representative basketball match played in Gisborne on Saturday between Poverty Bay B and Opotiki proved a most- exciting cue, in which, the honours of the day rested with the home side by six goals to four. The game'was played before a large gathering of spectators and from the opening stages it was evident that the teams were well matched. Poverty Bay were tho first to open their scoring account and they had a bare lead ■practically right- Hii'oughout the game.
